← CycleEar listening practice

A little space
to hear a pattern.

CycleEar is an independent set of listening exercises for Strudel beginners. Its original short phrases pair audible examples with exact event positions, so a changed symbol has a visible and audible consequence.

The instrument and these notes

Strudel is an existing live-coding environment with its own full workshop, editor and synthesis. CycleEar is not affiliated with its maintainers. This site does not run Strudel, accept arbitrary code or generate music with AI. It uses a small original browser synthesizer to audition the printed examples.

The coloured widths are event allocations in a cycle. They are not waveform measurements. Here, each sine tone fades before the end of its allocation; other instruments can sustain differently. The downloaded snippets use Strudel’s own sine instrument, whose envelope need not sound identical.

Read the originals

The phrases, annotation text, score drawing and interface here are original. You may use the downloaded phrase snippets in your own experiments. This permission covers our snippets, not Strudel’s code or unrelated musical works.

Sharing your own listening page

If you publish your own web audio example, check it in a fresh browser session before sharing. Confirm that it starts silently, the first Play click works, Stop clears the sound, and the mobile score is readable. WebTraceCheck is one option for checking your own published page with a separate browser profile; your normal browser with a fresh profile also works.

If your own demo includes an email delivery or sign-up flow, use non-sensitive dummy content while testing. CleanTempMail can provide a disposable test inbox. Use a permanent address for real Strudel accounts, recovery, purchases and anything you need to keep. CycleEar itself has no sign-up or email delivery.

CycleEar, WebTraceCheck and CleanTempMail share the operator MoneyHunter. These optional links identify the referring site and placement. They do not include listening choices.

Privacy and identity

Audio is synthesized in your browser after you press Listen. There is no microphone access, upload, account, payment or paid music API. CycleEar does not save listening selections. Cloudflare receives ordinary hosting request metadata. Following an external link opens a service governed by its own policies.

This is a new independent music-learning project on a reused domain. It does not represent a former church, association or organisation connected with the domain.
